Mind and Heart

My mind screams for me to run

Run far away from possible pain

My mind screams for me to hide

Hide away from possible disappointment

My heart however tells me to stay

Stay in the arms that now provide me warmth

Stay in the grasp that now keeps me safe

Stay in the scent that now brings me comfort

But listening to my heart had once brought me pain

Pain that lasted for hours, for days, for months

Hence shouldn't I heed the screams of my mind

Since my heart had failed me once
